What is Falcon Felines?

Falcon Felines is a capstone project for students in Animal Science 421: Advanced Canine and Feline Management. The class, taught by Dr. Chris Hergenrader, is comprised of third and fourth-year Animal Science - Companion Animal majors in the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences here at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. In this class, students are given the opportunity to pull together all of the information they have learned during their time here at UW-River Falls and care for our cats, reptiles, and soon-to-be dogs.

About Us: About Us

About Falcon Felines

Our Falcon Feline Program is in collaboration with the Dunn County Humane Society (DCHS) based in Menomonie, WI. Since our cats come from DCHS, all adoptions are finalized through them.

Students in the ANSC421 class come in multiple times throughout the day to care for our cats. Duties include feeding, cleaning, playing with, and socializing them.

Falcon Felines had its start in Hagestad Hall, and has since moved to North Hall 25K. Adoption hours are held every semester depending on class availability and the cats we currently have. Check our social media's for adoption hours updates!

Since Falcon Feline's start in Fall 2021, students in ANSC421 have successfully placed 32 cats into loving homes as of Fall 2023!

Falcon Reptiles was established in Fall 2023 and is housed in Lydecker. Students come in every day to do enclosure checks, feed, clean, and socialize them.

So far, we have adopted out our first reptile, Burrow the Russian Tortoise (pictured on the left)!
